DNA and Parentage Verification
DBCAA rules require all sires with semen collected to be DNA typed,
and the Association also reserves the right to spot check any
registered animal when deemed necessary. DNA typing service is
also available to breeders for parentage verification.
1. Fill out the test request form and mail it to the Registrar,
along with payment of $35 per test. You may also call in the
request to the office Registrar (919-542-5704) and pay by credit card.
2. Upon receipt of the request form and payment, the Registrar
will request the test kit form the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory at UC
Davis and send or email the test kit to the owner of the animal.
3. The owner then collects the hair sample and mails it back to
the VGL (taping the sample to the kit page).
4. Upon completion of the test, the results are sent to the
Registrar.
